I am immensely impressed with your blogspot and your wealth of knowledge on various customs, traditions and rituals and so on.
I have the Upanayanam of my son next month, and right from the time we planned the event, i have been searching the net to get help regarding the various functions and procedures as both my mother and mothe-in-law are no more, and i find it more convenient to get help from sites like yours and decide for myself than to ask relatives who may give different different views.and out of all, found the information in your blog very very useful. However, i found information in the site posted as early as in 2007... though customs and traditions do not change, still with changing times, some procedures do undergo a change. In this situation, it would be wonderful if you could give me details of what to do and how to do.........sumangali prarthanai (tirunelveli style), the various nitty gritties of the nandi shradham and the upanayanam.. Though the vadiyar and caterer have agreed to take care of everything, it is essential that I too learn and understand what is what, and also conduct the function in an organised manner and not in a chaotic manner as there is no elder/leader in the family.

I do not know thirunelveli style sumangali prarthanai. Since the vadhyar and caterer have taken the responsibility leave it to them. I have seen that these days they do a very good job.
